About the event

We held our first Patient Symposium on 15 September 2021. This event is for patients and carers to access relevant and up to date information from a variety of health care professionals.
All patients and carers are encouraged to watch the recorded sessions as you will find the information relevant, regardless of where you are in your journey.

	Associate Professor Michael Dickinson Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre & Royal Melbourne Hospital Cabrini Hospital, Malvern Melbourne, Victoria	Associate Professor Michael Dickinson is the Lead of Aggressive Lymphoma on the CAR T-team at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre & Royal Melbourne Hospital. His main research interest is in developing new treatments for lymphoma through leadership in investigator-led and industry-led clinical trials which have particularly focused on immunotherapies and epigenetic therapies for lymphoma. Michael has been intimately involved in the establishment of CAR T-cell treatments in Australia. Michael also works at Cabrini Hospital in Malvern, Melbourne. Michael is a member of Lymphoma Australia’s Medical Sub-committee.
	Serg Duchini Chair & Director Lymphoma Australia, and Patient Melbourne, Victoria	Serg Duchini is a Non-Executive director Esfam Biotech Pty Ltd and of AusBiotech. Serg was also a Board member of Deloitte Australia where he was a Partner of 23 years until August 2021. Serg has significant corporate experience with a specific focus on Life Science and Biotech. He is also a survivor of Follicular Lymphoma having been diagnosed in 2011 and 2020. Serg brings his commercial and governance experience to Lymphoma Australia as well as his patient perspective. Serg has Bachelor of Commerce, Master of Taxation, Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and Chartered Tax Advisor. Serg is the Chair of Lymphoma Australia.
	Dr Toni Lindsay Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Chris O’Brien Lifehouse Cambertown, NSW	Toni Lindsay is a Senior Clinical Psychologist who has been working in the field of oncology and haematology for approximately fourteen years. She completed her training in clinical psychology in 2009 and has been working at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Chris O’Brien Lifehouse ever since. Toni works with patients of all ages, including children and adults, but has a particular interest in working with adolescents and young adults. Toni works with a range of therapies including cognitive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy as well as existential therapy. Her book about managing psychological concerns in adolescent and young adult cancer patients called “Cancer, Sex, Drugs and Death” was published in 2017. She also is the manager of the Allied Health Department at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse which includes physiotherapy, dietetics, speech pathology, music therapy, occupational therapy, social work and psycho-oncology.
	Dr Peter Smith Adem Crosby Centre, Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Queensland	Dr Peter Smith is a specialist cancer services pharmacist at the Adem Crosby Centre, Sunshine Coast University Hospital. He has extensive hospital pharmacy experience of over 30 years practice in Queensland, Tasmania and the United Kingdom. Peter’s research passion is the safe use of complementary and alternative medicine by cancer patients receiving chemotherapy treatment.
